Made up Eyes & Face, Be Gone! Makeup Remover Review: CAILYN- Dizzolv’It

As you have already read in previous posts, I am crazy about removing makeup before going to bed. It is essential. It is an absolute. If you are going to wear it, you must commit and follow through and remove your face, just as you took the time to put it on. The issue is that it is a tedious task that is long a labor intensive with some types of cosmetics, the waterproof ones in particular and those amazing sweatproof foundations that we love to wear over the summer that make us look amazing but really do nothing great for our skin at the end of the day, but clog our little pores and make them gigantic craters. Who wants that? I don’t! So what’s a makeup lover to do? Take it off with whatever goodness is going to strip it off and keep that beautiful face looking amazing!

CLAIM: “Melt away your daily dose of grime, dirt and all traces of makeup in an instant! Dizzolv’it Makeup Melt Cleansing balm dissolves sunscreen, foundation and even the most resilient waterproof makeup thoroughly to leave your skin clean, supple, and luminously radiant.”

REVIEW: Initially got a sample of Cailyn from Birchbox.com, a subscription service that sends deluxe size samples of unique and hard to find products to you every month. I later purchased the product for $23 on Amazon.com, as it was a better price. Upon receiving the first jar of Cailyn, I thought to myself, what is one to do with such a small jar of product? This is a joke! Well, no joke my friends, A little bit goes a long way… The amount of product equivalent to about a dime removes the makeup from BOTH eyes and the amount of product equivalent to a nickel should get your whole face and neck area! Yes, pretty shocking to me at how little product works such insane miracles on waterproof/sweatproof makeup!

I opened the jar and as always, smelled the product. YES, I am a “smells person”. I am all about the sensory experience. I don’t like overly fragrant products and I don’t like products that smell bad. This one, has a nice, light almost powdery scent that has light notes of fruit to it – I can’t put my finger on it when I smell it, but if you read the ingredients, it is full of fruit/floral extracts. The texture to the product is a wax-like balm that is heat sensitive to body temperature. When you place it on your fingers and begin emulsifying it, the balm starts to melt instantly, but does not get runny. I found that the ideal way to remove the mascara/liner from my eyes was to put the product on my fingers, lightly emulsify and apply it directly to my lashes and rub (making sure your skin is dry prior to application). I had very good success with this. I later took a damp, warm washcloth and rinsed my eye area/brows. Then I proceeded to do the same with my face, since the product claims to give a “deep clean”, assuming it is from the resurfacing agents (Papaya) in the balm.

Once all my cosmetics were removed, my skin felt clean and did not feel squeaky, which is really nice. My skin had a nice glow to it and a hydrated feel. I like that my skin did not feel stripped, although it had the “stripping” effect.

PRO: Product absolutely delivers. Melts makeup and does what it says it is going to do. No odd or offensive smells and it has a great price.

CON: Dirty fingers keep going in the jar… I wish this stuff lived a container with a pump. Personally, I put my dirty fingers with makeup on them into the jar several times and had to clean my jar out, wasting valuable product (yes, I’m cheap – but you’ve gotta be!). I KNOW FOR A FACT that this contaminates the rest of the product, but when your taking it off, you just don’t have time to think about it sometimes – especially at 3 a.m., after heavy cocktails and dancing with your girls and you just need to get the stuff off.

THE VERDICT: Would I buy it? Umm… YEAH! I went out and ordered it on Amazon after I ran out of it from Birchbox – this stuff ROCKS! Seriously, I need to add this to my list of favorites. I know, I know – you say, but Lixa you like everything! No, I actually don’t! I can list 5 makeup removers I hate! this is NOT one of them. This one works. Now, go out and buy this before your face falls off from sleeping in your makeup. Oh yeah and again, DO NOT SLEEP IN MINERAL MAKEUP! IT’S GROSS.
